  • First a note, I\'m a simi-pro photographer (I do some paid work, but it\'s not my main job). Pro photographers usually consider me an advanced hobbiest. I\'m not expecting this camera to replace any of the high end cameras I use, I just want something quick and lighter for day trips, time with family, or when I\'m scoping out possible places to come back with the better gear.Let me start with the core issue I have with this camera: I have to either leave my data open to anyone who happens to pick up or find my camera or I have to jump through the login hoop to take pictures. I\'ve had two motorola phone and the Google Nexus 6 and with all three of those phones there is either a gesture I can make, or a shortcut I can add to the lock screen that allows me to take pictures without having to unlock the device. With the Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 I don\'t have that option. So either I leave my android device open for perusal by anyone or I miss pictures because I can\'t just pick it up and take a picture. You might say \"all other cameras let people look through your pictures, why is it different with this one?\". Easy answer, normal cameras don\'t also give access to email, IM, social media, and anything else the device may connect to. I\'ve considered opening a Google account just for this camera because part of the point of an Android device is how it integrates with Google. As for the rest of the camera I have some other annoyances / issues. I\'ve used this camera for a couple of weeks now including one trip out of state and have a few items:Battery - Yes the battery runs our very quickly, you show expect that from this type of devices and buy a backup battery and external charger.Interface - Samsung decided that they would implement Android, but do something completely different for the settings app. There wasn\'t a good reason to do that and it ends up hiding settings and features from you that there is no reason to hide.Picture Quality - In good circumstances the pictures it take are quite good, but if there is backlighting it doesn\'t let you select another part of the screen to correct the picture (at least you can go into the manual settings to correct for that) and the picture quality at night isn\'t as good as many other phone cameras I\'ve used (especially the Lumina from 3 years ago).Things I like:Integration with Google - I really like that by the time I\'m unpacked from home my pictures are already in Google Photos/Picasa, I also like how I can email photos or send them with TXT/IM (Hangouts) from anywhere with Wifi. I found myself keeping my phone in hotspot mode (which uses up the battery even faster on the Samsung camera) and was able to view the pictures on my tablet just a few minutes after they were taken.Zoom - this camera has a marvelous zoom with good optics. Except for night shooting It\'s been as good, or better, than many of the other mid-level point-and-shoot digital cameras I\'ve used over the last couple of years.Feeling in hand - the camera just feels good in my hand, many point-and-shoot cameras are too small, but this one seems to balance size and form a bit better so it fits in my larger hands, being a bit heavy may be a downside for some people. So, in the end I\'m not returning it but it also hasn\'t completely replaced my other main point-and-shoot which is what I was hoping to do. Anytime I have a backlight shot or it\'s evening/night I fall back to another camera.
  • Really like this camera. Just took it to Paris and overall, was happy with the results, although I could have spent a little more time fussing with settings to get better lighting in some situations, I think. That being said, it works pretty good on \"Auto\". The zoom is incredible. Just steady yourself against something and it\'ll be clear. I LOVED that it uploaded to Dropbox every night when I connected to wifi. Three things I found a little bothersome - it began to behave a little wonky one day when the battery got below 35%; lens wouldn\'t close, camera froze and I had to remove the battery and reinsert to fix it. The next day, while fully charged, it did the same thing a couple times. A little worrisome, but I am hoping it is just because I was using the heck out of it - turning on/off, zooming in and out, changing settings, etc. constantly. Could be the internal hard drive was just fragmented and tired. I did a complete shut down, removed/reinserted the battery and didn\'t seem to have the issue again, but I didn\'t use it much immediately after that. The other thing is that I was pulling it in/out of my back all day and twice found the battery compartment open and the tiny card almost out! EEEP! Next trip, I will likely secure a small piece of tape across the battery compartment just to ensure that doesn\'t happen. The third issue for me was that this camera does not respond quickly when you turn it on, it takes a couple beats too long to come on in my opinion. I like to shoot quick on the street to catch things and I missed a handful of things because it just didn\'t turn on fast enough. (I am talking about when it has been already powered up for the first time of the day and on/off often thereafter - because the first boot up after being off for a long period of time takes MUCH longer).
  • For a camera this small this one really surprised me.Pros:- Ease of use \"If you are use to taking pictures with a android phone than you will take to this like a fish to water\"- Beautiful pictures \"Night Mode was excellent! Clarity and beauty I have only seen on some other high end cameras\"- Zoom ability. \"You can Really get up close and personal with the 21x Optical Zoom! Clear as well as close for those hard to take pictures\"- Transfer photos directly to your Samsung phone or tablet via wifi to save your pictures!- Direct Access to dropbox with a wifi internet connection\"- Advanced settings for more experienced users- Customizable android hardware. Make your camera unique to you!- Ability to use it for more than just a camera with Android apps.Cons:- Handle with care... this is not meant for children.- Do not drop..... It will most likely mess up your camera. Treat it like a high end camera!- Does not transfer photos via S-beam. \"Samsung drooped the ball on this one!\"- Do not take pictures of your significant other while they are at their worst... this camera will catch their flaws and you may not survive to take another photo! \"In other words if your wife says she looks fat in a dress don\'t pull out the camera.......\"
  • I\'m still learning how to use this camera but so far I like the pictures I took. The internet connectivity is great.
  • I use this instead of my phone because I can save pictures to a SD card.
  • Great except for one problem that may become a deal breaker for some people. Great resolution. Easy to use for people who already use Samsung phones. Incredibly powerful zoom. Now there is one problem. If you try to use it to capture moments from sport events, such as wrestling and football, the moving images will be blurred. Unfortunately, this is our purpose. Having said that, we used it only once and didn\'t spend much time to figure out if there is an option for speed adjustment. We couldn\'t find it. Google search said something about an app to solve this. If I find a solution to this, I\'m happy to modify my review and add one more star.
