  • i love this camera. so expensive but so worth it. especially when you bring it out on a night out with friends! so fun and you can upload via wifi right to your phone if you use the canon connect app!!!!!!
  • I had to replace a Kodak camera my daughter bought me several years ago which worked great up until this past week when it would take a picture, but when trying to review the picture, it would state, \"format not recognized.\" I tried everything to correct the issue, but nothing worked. So...went looking for another, similar style camera. This Cannon ELPH has some updated features and a reasonable review rate - seems like everything has some 1 star reviews...strange how people can have such totally different experiences with the same item! Anyway, I\'ve found that any item with at least a 50% 5-star review ratings from well over 100 reviewers will probably be \"safe\" to order. I received this as a used item, but it came in the original box with everything a new one is shipped with. Charged the battery in the included battery charger, popped the battery in the camera, took a couple of quick pics, set up the download to my computer (hint for others - your computer has to set up files too, so you can\'t just download to your computer without making sure both your camera and your computer recognize each other - whatever your network password is to get into your wireless network will have to be input into the camera and your computer will need to download drivers for the camera...). Anyway, all that done, the pics were downloaded to my computer and they look good. I\'m happy with this purchase and that\'s what matters, right?
  • Just received this camera so I haven\'t had a chance to test it completely. But from what I\'ve seen so far, I\'m impressed. The picture quality is good and the videos are clear. Like all digital cameras, you get the best results in bright sunshine. The picture of the man was taken inside, sunshine from the picture\'s left. The others are just outside, early morning.I am using a SanDisk 32 gig card and the camera has no problem with it. Formatted it and began shooting. The camera feels god in my hands. The control buttons on the back are little small for my hands. When setting up the wifi I had to retype the password several times because my thumb hit one of the arrow keys and the wrong letter would go in. But I don\'t use the wifi, so it doesn\'t matter much. I have a cable with a mini usb end and I advise you to buy a cable (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D2315YG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for convenience sake.I usually just take the card out and put it in my computer to transfer pictures. If you are going to do wireless transfers, you need to read the ONLINE manual. There are quite a few steps, and skipping any will mean you have to do it over.I shoot in the \"P\" mode. I like a little control over my shooting, but the camera does real well in auto. Shooting in \'auto\' should give you excellent results.I am a pro photographer who doesn\'t want to carry my pro gear everywhere and needed something I could just grab and shoot with while doing videos with my bigger gear.As with any camera, you\'ll get your best shots when you are not at the far end of a telephoto shot or all the way in for a close up. These can cause you have \"soft\' shots. Try and stay in the middle ranges if you can.All in all I\'d say I\'m very pleased with the camera. Does what I need it to and does it well.Remember, 90% of a good shot lies with the photographer. Take a little time to learn how to compose shots and you\'ll be very happy with this camera.
  • I have larger, more expensive cameras but wanted something for hiking and travel. That means light and small enough to fit in my front pocket and inexpensive enough that I wouldn\'t go into a fit if it breaks or gets lost during a trip. I also wanted video, which can be a rare feature in these small cameras. The photos turn out surprisingly well. My one disappointment with its photo capabilities is that you have to go into the menu in order to turn on compensation (open the iris) for subject\'s that are back-lighted. I take a lot of architectural photos which often requires a wide-angle lens...this camera fills that need. It easily fits into my front pocket without showing a larger bulge than is already there. I can even put my phone in the same pocket. And it doesn\'t have a lens cap, which usually gets lost soon after you open the box. The video is another story...lots of video noise. You can use this to document something but you will need another camera if you are shooting B-roll for your next movie. Really, most new phones have better video than this camera. If the video was good and it had an easily reached compensation adjustment wheel, I\'d give it five stars. But I think it would be very difficult for me to give five stars to any pocket camera.
