While the Olympus FE 4020 has some neat whiz-bang features, they apparently forgot about basic image quality...especially the video. The still pictures are acceptably sharp but the color seems overly saturated. The video function is where this camera really falls flat. The zoom is jerky and the image at the long end is heavily pixellated...virtually unusable. I had a 7 megapixel Samsung for several years (until the iris failed) and it could literally run rings around this Olympus in terms of video image quality...as could most video-capable cell phones. I regret the purchase of the Olympus.
The camera was received in a already opened box, not factory packaged. It is missing the USB cable, and the AC charger / power cord. The battery was already installed, therefore this item was previously used - NOT NEW! If I do not receive the USB cable, and AC adapter / power cord by Friday I will be retturning the item for a full refund.
I received the Olympus FE-4020 a week ago and am generally pleased with the little camera. Indoor and outdoor shots are fine.Press the shutter halfway down to activate the \"AF\" (auto focus) - you must have a green target mark before you snap the picture. If the target square is red/orange, your shot will be out of focus! There are 3 options for \"Focus Mode,\" I like \"Spot.\"The \"P\" (Program Auto) shooting mode works best for me. I don\'t care for the \"Digital Image Stabilization\" (DIS) mode. I have not tried all the \"SCN\" (Scene) modes; the \"Night\" was neat. And the \"Magic\" effects were cool. The \"Macro\" and \"Super Macro\" produced good results of the close-up flower shots I snapped.I really like that it utilizes a rechargeable Li battery - no need to spend $ on replacing disposable batteries. You will have to insert an SD card (purchased separately) if you want to store more than a few pictures in the minuscule internal memory (normal for most cameras of this class and higher).Practice taking shots before you photograph your important event. And read the Instruction Manual to get the most out of the features and modes.
This camera is cheap. I read all the reviews and decided to give it the benefit of the doubt since it seemed to be a good camera. Now I know you get what you pay for. It has horrible resolution if you want to zoom in on any picture you take, and it takes forever for it to actually take the picture once you push the button down. If I were you reading this review, I would look elsewhere. I am disappointed with Olympus for making such a cheap camera when I feel that they are a very decent camera company.
I bought this camera for my son, because he has to take pictures at school for their news paper, and I did\'nt want him to use my expensive one, so I tried this. It\'s in good condition, brings all they said and it works very good.
I needed a compact camera for slipping in my pocket and using during outdoor outings. This Olympus camera has proven to be up to the task. It is not a full featured digital camera, but for $76 it does much more than I expected.
I received this camera as a gift and enjoyed it the first few uses. However the shutter is pretty loud for a small camera, sounds like it struggles to work. It also does not take quick photos, it was actually pretty frustrating during an \"moving shots\". Also while on vacation or display screen got a big black mark on it for an unknown reason (never dropped and always kept in a case). When we tried to contact the manufacturer they asked for 75.00 just to LOOK at it and warned that it likely would not be covered anyways. We are moving on to a completely different company. I would not recommend to a friend.
I love the way it works and it takes great pictures. If you are in need of a gift for Christmas I recommend this camera for a loved one.
