Canon PowerShot A3100IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Blue)
- Canon PowerShot A3100IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Blue) I purchased this Canon A3100IS 12.1 MP digital camera about a month ago. At first I wasn\'t sure if this camera was for me... it\'s my first Canon pocket digital camera (always carried a bigger digital camera) and I am pleasantly surprised how much fun it is taking photos with this camera. The camera is easy to learn, fun to use & takes great photos. Everyone loves the photos I\'ve done so far & can\'t believe they came from this little camera!! I\'m not a professional photographer, I just like snapping photos of life\'s moments, to share with family & friends & occasionally surprise myself with how good they turn out!! If you own a Mac you don\'t even need to download the photo program... just plug the camera in to your Mac, turn on the Canon and within a few minutes your photos are downloaded to iPhoto and ready to share!! I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a camera that is small (but still easy to handle), easy to learn & takes great photos. I bought this from Amazon & received it in 3 days!!PS. I Love this camera case, can throw it in my bag or clip it to a belt loop, fits the camera well with space for extra SD cards, it\'s a Caselogic TBC-302 Ultra Compact Camera Case with Storage.
- I really wanted to love this camera as much as the 5-star reviewers. In fact, it was the high praise that made me buy it. However, it suffers from the typical problems most cameras in this price range do --slow shutter/write to disk speed and mediocre low light shooting.I shoot mostly indoors, and I was taken in by all the reviewers who said this camera does great in low light conditions. Not my experience. I keep it set to \"Auto\" mostly because I\'m not a photographer who fiddles with all the settings, so I was banking on the auto feature to sort out poor lighting, but probably 30% of my indoor shots are blurry (I have a pretty steady hand) and/or over-exposed from the flash. And the time it takes to write an image to the disk (I use a high-end SanDisk Extreme III SD card)is aggravating. The pause is at least 3 seconds, which doesn\'t sound like a lot, but an eternity if you\'re trying to capture events quickly (without having to use the continuous fire mode). Also, I thought I wouldn\'t miss having a view finder to look through, but I was wrong. If you use this outside in bright light, the LCD is nearly useless. Taking a picture with the LCD in bright light is a crap-shoot guesstimate.Anyway, it\'s not the worst camera I\'ve owned in this price range, but I\'m still looking for the best in this price range, and I don\'t think this is it.
- How good are the results from this camera? Before you can answer that, you have to ask what it is that you want out of a pocket camera. Is it as convenient as a phone camera? No - but then a phone camera won\'t get better results or be as versatile as this.Is it as good as a DSLR or even a super-zoom? Definitely not - and one wouldn\'t expect it to be given it\'s size and feature set. This is certainly not a \'professional\' amateur camera - it\'s a basic point and shoot. That means pictures are sometime blurry as it doesn\'t focus accurately or can\'t keep up with the motion in front of the lens and pictures are sometimes grainy due to the basic lens. In bright daylight, it works fine for those holiday snaps but it will struggle with low light or indoor pictures. The screen needs an anti-glare coating or, ideally, a viewfinder - remember those holes that you used to look through before screens came along ?!In all, given it\'s price, I would spend a little more and opt for a super-zoom. But given it\'s size, and if I needed something I could slip into my pocket, then this is a good camera for basic point and shoot type pictures.I give it 3.5 stars.
- This camera is great! Before purchasing this camera, I had gotten a Fuji Film FinePix z70 and couldnt\' stand it. I returned it after a week because I couldn\'t get it to take a good picture. Every picture was out of focus or the camera would choose to focus on the dust in the air. I was miserable with it. I was worried that I wouldn\'t be able to find a camera that I really liked, but I decided to take a chance on this camera - and I\'m in love. This camera is so easy to use that I haven\'t even read the manual for it. The battery is keeping a charge nicely and it charged fairly quickly, too. I\'m really happy with the quality of the photos this camera takes. I have a 16 month old son, who just can\'t sit still so I need a camera that can keep up with him and this is that camera! Believe me, I did a lot of research after returning the Fuji Film camera and before buying this one - I\'m pretty sure there is no better camera out there for the price!
- I have owned my Canon PowerShot SX120 IS camera for two years, and sold it because the AA batteries drained quickly, and the battery door was difficult to open. I am totally satisfied to own my new Canon A3100 camera. I like pressing halfway lightly until the camera beeps twice and AF frames appear where the camera focused well. I tested some photos, they are crisp, and clear with good colors. The flash works well indoor perfectly. The advantage of using this camera has a good battery door to open much easier than SX120 IS. This 4 GB SDHC memory card has 1,231 shots with 12 MP. A good battery lasts longer. The battery can be fully charged in an half hour quickly. No more AA batteries to purchase. I highly recommend this product to everyone. If you want a small camera to carry easily to somewhere, then this is for you.
