Canon Cameras US Point and Shoot Digital Camera with 3.0 LCD, Black (2955C001)
- I bought this camera with the intention of taking on an upcoming trip to Italy. I wanted something versatile enough to capture landscapes but also some occasional wildlife. I found that the auto focus works pretty well even if you\'re shooting a cluttered subject like a bird in a tree. The first photo is a basic landscape. The color is true and the image is fairly crisp. The second image is of a screech owl in a nesting box. I zoomed in pretty much as far as the camera would go. The image is not of good quality. I was using a monopod to help stabilize the camera but that wasn\'t the issue. The image is pretty badly pixilated. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th images are of the same wall I found in the woods. As you zoom in you can see that the sharpness goes out the window. The last two images were taken with the lens at what I would estimate was about 300mm on a standard SLR camera. The images turned out pretty good. Overall I give the camera 4 stars because of it\'s ease of use, it\'s convenient small size, and photo quality between what I\'d estimate is about 30mm and 300mm. But if you\'re looking to use this camera for wildlife, forget it. Trying to find active animals, such as birds, on the screen is frustrating and the image quality is just not good when you go beyond 300mm.
- Our previous camera (a Nikon) was great but got dropped on our last vacation. It was kind enough to wait until we got home before dying from its injuries. R.I.P, little trouper. You served us well.As a (mostly) Nikon user, this Canon is a nice surprise. Great zoom and great photos, and similar enough that we didn\'t need re-training. I would getting another if we drop this one.
- In my profession, I take capture approx. 250 photos daily and have used the Powershot 180 for the past 5 years. This upgrade is well worth the value based on image quality, stabilization, and quick point-and-shoot features alone. The 180 tends to be slow with capturing quick repetitive shots, and it requires a few extra seconds to reset when using the flash. Many of my photos were blurry when I was in a hurry. This cam resolves these issues with quick shoot response and the stabilizer allows me to shoot away with great results. This camera is sturdy and heavier than the 180 but still fits in my pocket.
- I wanted to take a small compact camera on vacation. I had been looking for a while but during the time after Thanksgiving and before Christmas, and I couldn’t find one anywhere. I didn’t want to pay a lot for a camera, I had seen this one several times online but wanted to see it in person, but I couldn’t find a local store that carried any compact point and shoots cameras. I did pay a little more than I wanted but I needed it for my trip. I didn’t want to take my professional equipment out of the country. This camera was great. I wasn’t sure about it at first but it did a great job! I like that the screen flips up for selfies! I would recommend!!! The zoom was great and once I got back and edited my photos using Lightroom you can’t tell they were taken on a point and shoot!
