  • I am an avid birder, botanist and Wildlife Biologist. This \"pocket\" sized camera is easy to pack into the field and use. I often use it in place of my binoculars due to its zoom capacity and 4k shutter speed. I can often observe birds and other wildlife species from hundreds of yards away through the camera lens and acquire excellent photos using a tripod. A \"must have\" item I grab before going outside for a walk, when fishing, camping, or to catch the seasonal migration of thousands of birds through my area. It is not as complicated as others have written. Yes, the instruction booklet is long ... but that is because this little camera comes LOADED with capacity! I would recommend it to anyone looking to take good quality pictures while in motion, or from long distances. This model is a little old, and transferring files via WiFi can take some time. Removing the SD card and using it with my computer is a breeze though...
  • Have used this camera a few times and had a good idea of the pros and cons before I received it.Some of the PROS:Great travel camera that fits in pocket.Zoom range of 24-720mm is incredible.Would rate the IQ about 8/10 on average. When you go out all the way, expect some slight reduction in resolution. The auto focus is very good with decent lighting.Shoots raw and has manual focus.4K photo option is a big plus for action shots.Battery life is good........go with two charged batteries if you are out for the day. Some of the CONS:Smaller size sensor will reduce quality with noise showing up at plus 400 ISO. Some decent reduction with noise software.Camera is good when light is good. Not really for indoors and flash is not great at all. (I live in Florida so plenty of sun most of the time). My reason for buying included all of the features packed into a small size and will sometimes give me the incentive to leave the DSLR gear at home when I feel like traveling light. However not a \"real\" substitute for larger sensor DSLR. Also, price was reduced by $50 the day I purchased it and I had a $100 gift certificate so it wound up costing $297........It was hard to pass up!What the camera offers for its size is the big selling point in my opinion.
  • If you download the manual, it runs over 400 pages, although some of those are for another model. It can be complicated (it can also be easy to use) to do things, as it took me about a day and a half to turn on the flash. That being said, the picture quality is excellent and under most conditions it is simple to use. In particular, the camera has an electronic viewfinder (EVF), so you can actually see what you are taking a picture of in the bright sun. That was the main reason I purchased the camera. I have a nice DSLR with several lenses, but just didn\'t want to carry the whole kit about on a European vacation, so I took my wife\'s point and shoot cameras (both of which do a good job). A lot of times I was guessing what was in the picture, so decided I needed some sort of viewfinder camera when I got home, so I bought this one. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was minimal lag between pushing the button and taking the picture. Most point and shoots take a while. This Lumix doesn\'t. An excellent second camera or one to use when you don\'t want to carry around 20 pounds of gear.
  • It has been years since I owned a compact camera. (My last few have been DSLR or the similar \"bridge\" models). With the small layout, this camera doesn\'t feel very ergonomic. It took about 6 tries for me to correctly enter the date and time. But I think simply using it enough to get used to the size will help a lot.Picture quality is good. A little too much contrast and the JPEG could be a little clearer. \"Freeze Animal Motion\" and \"Clear Sports Shot\" didn\'t quite live up to my expectations either. But when I consider all the fun new features packed into this camera along with the price, I can\'t complain much.Setting things up to control the camera with my smart phone was easy. (Learning how to use the controls was a little harder, but still only took a few minutes.) Trying out the different scenes was fun :-) I am going to get some BEAUTIFUL shots of my garden this spring!I will have to invest in some brighter lights if I want to use this camera for indoor product photography. My previous Canon PowerShot SX50 HS did much better in less-than-optimal lighting conditions.
  • This is a really good camera if you know what you\'re doing and have large steady hands. The burst is very quick and it has a huge range. I wanted really badly to like the camera, but I ended up returning because:1. It was too complicated for me2. It had a bad UI3. The grip on the camera is terrible. The area between the lens and the left edge of the camera is probably less than 1cm. You can\'t grab the camera on the left too much because the lens is too wide. If you grab too much of the camera from the left, you will be able to see your fingers.4. The camera is a bit heavy, so you need both hands to hold and focus, therefore your inability to grab the left side of the camera makes the camera very hard to hold.5. The view finder is in an awkward place. It is too close to the left top part of the camera. You have to squish your face up against your camera. The left edge of the camera ends up in your nose or in your mouth.6. I ended up turning down the sensitivity... but to no avail. When you\'re too close to the view finder (brush up against it, try to focus, face gets too close), the display automatically disappears. It comes back quickly, but it is just annoying when you\'re trying to take a photo and the display disappears cause you\'re too close to the view finder sensor.
