• I wanted to upgrade my powershot to one with more zoom power and this one fit the bill. It\'s easy to use and takes great pictures.
• For what it is - an inexpensive bridge camera - this product holds up. It produces image of a quality comparable to DSLRs and with a wide range of user-friendly settings that make lining up and making a photograph straightforward and simple. However, there are drawbacks to any bridge camera, and they certainly don\'t offer the range of photographic freedoms that DSLRs do, even if the images they produce can be evenly compared in terms of technical quality. Someone looking for a good camera for vernacular photography, family vacations, and things of this nature will not be disappointed by the flexibility of this camera, nor the image quality, and at a price not much higher than one might expect of the point-and-shoot more common of the genre, it\'s a steal. but serious photographers, even relatively poor ones like myself, would benefit tremendously by the freedom and flexibility offered for the hundred extra dollars it would take to buy a DSLR of comparable quality.Go9od at what it\'s good at, bad at what it\'s not. Reasonably-priced either way.
• This camera is similar to my old Canon, Powershot SI 30, so many features are the same. The battery is smaller and easy to take in and out. This 540 is easier to hold. Capturing video seems to be better than my old camera. I have 2 dislikes. The battery does not last as long as my old camera that has larger battery. For capturing different types of images, there are various selections, like \"portrait\", \"sport\", \"auto\". My old camera had an option called \"landscape\". This new camera does not. It may try to auto focus on nearby objects rather than the over all scene. I have yet to try the new technical areas, bluetooth, WiFi.
• I bought this mostly for taking pictures of my kids during sports. I wanted a camera with a good zoom (this definitely has it) without having to switch out lenses or invest in something $$$. I\'m used to DSLRs, specifically the Rebel and an older Nikon D70 and this was a bit of a learning curve for me. Overall I\'m very satisfied with camera. The only downside is it tends to overexpose on auto but once I sit down and go through the settings it won\'t be an issue.1. Dive competition shot across the pool.2. Picture of kids in the ocean.3. Picture to show the distance/zoom.4. Bird feeder from across the yard.
• Love the camera, takes great pictures at great quality images. BUT, you have to be willing to just dive in and start playing with things to learn how to use it because it doesn’t come with a users manual. When I looked it up, it was 188 pages! Who wants to print all that, not I. To much ink and paper.
• I\'m still learning how to use some of the techniques as I am a beginner in photography and wanted this mainly to use for bird identification. I am mostly using it in auto mode, but this is a great little starter camera. The picture quality is excellent, the zoom is fantastic and it is really user friendly. The battery life isn\'t bad. I can go out for an afternoon bird watching and I haven\'t had it go dead on me. I do make sure it has had a full charge every time I go out, though. Excellent bridge camera for the money!
• The picture quality is great. I have been using the camera for photographing suburban wildlife. I previously had a Canon PowerShot SX400 IS, which had 30x zoom. I upgraded to this and am happy with the decision. My photographs impress friends and family.I have two criticisms: 1. the camera did not come with a bag; 2: the shoulder strap supplied did not fit through the loops on the camera. When I tried trimming the ends to make it fit, the strap frayed and is effectively unusable. My wife ended up sewing a wrist strap that I use to prevent dropping the camera.The shoulder strap issue is the reason that I have only given this a rating of four stars. Picture quality and ease of use I gave five.
• I wanted to upgrade old Canon Powershot elph. I really didn\'t want to got the route of the full blown 35mm DSLR. After extensive research and reading tons of reviews I decided on this model. It is a great camera,especially for someone not wanting a full blown 35MM. Takes great pics in auto mode but there still are plenty of options in manual mode. I chose the Case Logic camera bag DCB-304. It is big enough to fit all my accessories (2 battery charger with 2 additional batteries, portable small power pack, extra sd cards and various small cables) and yet not big at all. Very satisfied with camera and bag.
